Tried cold brew for a week straight and it actually changed my morning

I was always a hot drip guy, swore anything cold was just watered down nonsense. Then last Thursday my neighbor brought over a jug of her homemade cold brew and dared me to try it black. I figured why not, and man it was smooth, no bitterness at all. It got me through a brutal 12 hour roof repair job in the July heat without a single crash. Now I'm curious, does anyone here make their own concentrate or do you buy it pre-made?

Dude, that really hits home. I went through the exact same thing last year, swore by hot coffee for years and thought cold brew was just gross watery iced coffee. One hot summer day at a friend's BBQ, someone handed me a mason jar of the stuff and it totally flipped my brain. No bitterness at all, just smooth sipping that kept me going without that shaky crash later on. I've been making my own concentrate ever since just a simple mason jar with coarse grounds and a cheesecloth filter, cheap and way better than the store brands.

The neighbor's girlfriend brought me a mason jar of her homemade cold brew last August and I was exactly the same way, figured it was just fancy iced coffee nonsense. @leeknight nailed it with that cheesecloth method, that's exactly how I filter mine too and it comes out way cleaner than any store bought stuff I've tried. I do a 24 hour steep with a pound of coarse grounds in a big pitcher and it makes enough concentrate for like a week and a half. No crash, no bitterness, just smooth coffee that actually wakes you up without the jitters.
