The barista who corrected my pour-over technique with a wink
I was at this tiny shop in Austin last Tuesday, struggling with my V60 pour, and this older guy leans over the counter and says "you're drowning the grounds, let the water breathe." He showed me a slower spiral pour and my cup tasted so much better I bought him a pastry. Anyone else have a stranger totally change their coffee game like that?

Oh man, that is such a great story. I had something similar happen at a random coffee cart outside a hardware store, where the owner saw me impatiently slamming my Aeropress plunger and just gently put his hand on my wrist and said "slow down, let it steep another 30 seconds." It blew my mind how much smoother it came out. That kind of random kindness from a stranger who actually knows their stuff is so rare and cool. I bet that pour over changed your whole morning, lol.

That part about the guy putting his hand on your wrist at the hardware store cart sounds kinda weird honestly. Like that crosses a line for me, touching a customer's arm without asking first. Glad the coffee was better though. But the pour over thing with the wink is different, that barista kept it light and taught you something without getting in your personal space. Your Aeropress story is cool but the gentle hand thing makes me think you got lucky he was just trying to help and not being a creep. That kind of unsolicited touch would make me walk away from the cart completely.
