That pho place in Portland served me a latte with chilis inside

Walked into a Vietnamese cafe off Hawthorne and asked for something strong, came out with a coffee topped with sriracha and a cinnamon stick, has anyone else had a coffee fusion experiment go completely sideways?

That actually sounds like a decent attempt at a savory coffee drink, not a mistake. I had something similar in a little shop in Austin where they put a dash of chili powder and a star anise in a Vietnamese iced coffee, and it was really good - the heat wakes up your tongue and makes the sweet condensed milk taste even richer. A lot of Southeast Asian coffee traditions play with spice, so sriracha and cinnamon is not that far off from what some places do on purpose. Give it another shot with an open mind, the combination might grow on you after a few sips.

Wait, star anise in coffee? That's wild, @david_adams. I've never even heard of putting that in a drink, but now I'm kind of curious to try it.
