That guy at the local shop who lectured me for 10 minutes about my pour-over technique

I was at Brew Lab in Portland last Saturday just trying to buy some beans when this random dude saw my Chemex and started critiquing my grind size without even asking. He went on about how I was ruining the coffee for everyone by not using a gooseneck kettle, and then he pulled out a refractometer to prove his point. Has anyone else had a stranger at a coffee shop act like you're destroying the craft just by existing?

I just smiled, nodded, and told him my coffee tastes great to me then walked away. Honestly ignoring them and buying your beans anyway is the best move.

Last Tuesday I was at the local hardware store picking up a new rake. Some guy in the paint aisle stopped me to complain about how the store brand brushes shed bristles worse than his old cat. I just said "huh, that's rough" and grabbed my stuff. I got home and the rake was fine, but the handle felt a little wobbly after ten minutes. So I guess sometimes you just take your chances and move on.
