I was at a shop in Portland last weekend and heard the owner tell a new hire that he throws out any batch of beans older than 10 days, no exceptions. He said the roast date on the bag is a lie half the time because distributors sit on inventory. How do you guys actually verify freshness at home without trusting the printed date?
