Shoutout to the folks who think a dark roast means more caffeine

I keep hearing this at coffee shops, even from some baristas, and it drives me nuts. A dark roast is just roasted longer, which actually burns off more caffeine. I learned this after talking to a roaster in Seattle who showed me the weight difference. Lighter beans are denser and pack more caffeine punch by weight. So that French roast you think is giving you a bigger kick? It's probably the opposite. I switched to a light roast for my morning cup and felt a clearer energy boost without the jitters. Why does this myth keep going around, do you think?

Yeah but the weight thing only matters if you're measuring beans.

I read that same point about bean weight in a coffee science article last week.
