Shoutout to the $12 burr grinder swap that saved my French press

I was using a $25 blade grinder for 8 months and couldn't figure out why my French press always tasted muddy and bitter, then my neighbor in Dayton lent me his hand burr grinder and the same beans tasted clean the first cup. If you're still on a blade, what finally made you switch?
