Saw a coffee shop in Cincinnati use a mason jar for their cold brew tap

I was at a place called The Daily Grind last Friday and they had their cold brew coming out of a big glass jar with a spigot on the counter. The barista said it helps them see the brew level and keeps it cold longer than their old metal keg. Has anyone else seen a setup like this, and does it really make a difference in taste?

Seriously? That sounds like a gimmick to me. Glass lets in light which can mess with the coffee over time, and a metal keg would actually keep it colder. I'd bet money you wouldn't taste any real difference.

I used to think the same thing until I tried it side by side. The glass actually makes a huge difference in flavor, it's way smoother.

Hold on though, light exposure takes a long time to actually mess with coffee, way longer than it takes most people to finish a keg. And the cold thing, yeah metal gets colder faster, but glass actually keeps an even temp once it's cold. Plus the whole flavor thing is real, glass is non-porous and doesn't hold onto old coffee oils like metal can. Did you try a proper side by side test or is this just a gut feeling?
