My pour-over game totally changed after switching to a gooseneck kettle

For two years I was using a regular kettle to make my morning coffee at my apartment in Portland. I thought it was fine, just dump the water in and hope for the best. Last month I finally picked up a cheap gooseneck kettle from a kitchen supply store for like 25 bucks. The difference is insane. My coffee actually extracts evenly now and I stopped getting those sour or bitter hits that made me hate some beans. I can actually taste the notes the roaster describes, like citrus or chocolate, instead of just hot brown water. Has anyone else had a major upgrade like that just from changing one simple tool?

Oh man, I feel this. I was using a $10 electric kettle from target for years and my coffee was basically "aggressively hot bean water." I finally got a gooseneck two months ago and I felt like I unlocked a secret level. The first time I poured I accidentally watered down my whole counter because I underestimated how precise the spout is. But now I can actually taste the difference between a washed Ethiopian and a natural processed one instead of just guessing based on the bag. It's like I was driving with foggy glasses before.
