My local shop's cold brew is suddenly way too bitter

Last Friday I went to my usual spot in Portland and got their cold brew like always. It tasted super bitter, almost like they left the grounds in for 24 hours instead of their normal 12. I asked the barista and she said they just switched to a new bean from Guatemala. I've been going there for 2 years and this is the first time I haven't finished my cup. Has anyone else had a favorite shop change their beans and ruin your go-to order?

Wasn't there a whole article about this in that coffee blog last month? They said a lot of roasters are getting beans from new regions because of shipping problems, and the taste is totally different. My old favorite place switched to a Brazilian bean that just tasted like ash. I had to find a new spot for my morning coffee. It really sucks when your reliable drink gets messed up.

Tell me about it. My usual coffee spot did the same thing last year, switched to some new beans that tasted like burnt rubber. Felt like a personal insult every morning. Had to go on a whole coffee hunt for weeks, spent way too much money on bad cups. Honestly started to think my taste buds were broken. Finally found a new place but man, that first sip of good coffee again was a religious experience.

That Guatemalan bean sounds like a real betrayal.
