My buddy swore by a 1:10 ratio for cold brew and my last batch was pure battery acid.

Yeah the "potent brew you can fix" idea makes sense. I had a batch go nuclear once and just started cutting it with way more water or milk when I poured a glass. Saved it.

Honestly I'm with your buddy on this one. A 1:10 ratio is the classic move for a reason. That battery acid batch probably just needed to steep for less time, like 12 hours instead of 24. I mean, a stronger concentrate means you can water it down more and it lasts way longer in the fridge. Maybe it's just me but I'd take a potent brew I can fix over a weak one any day.

Guess it depends how seriously you take your cold brew. 1:10 is fine if you're gonna cut it with milk or ice but straight up it's gonna hit you like a truck. I usually do 1:8 and call it a day, strong enough for a good caffeine kick but not so strong it feels like I'm drinking dark roast extract. People really get worked up over ratios like it's some sacred science.
