My buddy said pre-ground is fine for a French press, turns out he was dead wrong

Tbh, I've been using a French press for about 6 months now and always just used store bought pre-ground stuff. My buddy Mike who's been into coffee for years kept telling me it doesn't matter that much, just go finer grind he said. Well last week I finally grabbed a bag of whole beans from a local roaster here in Portland and ground them myself right before brewing. The difference was insane, way less silt and the flavor actually came through clean. Has anyone else had that moment where you realized the grind really does make or break the cup?

That "close enough is fine" attitude screws up a lot more than just coffee.

Wait, people actually add coffee grounds to their coffee?
