My barista buddy said something about 'bad coffee drinkers' that kind of stuck with me
I was hanging out at this shop in Portland last week and the lead barista there told me she thinks the whole 'coffee snob' label is backwards. She said most people who call themselves coffee snobs actually just drink the same light roast single origin every day and never branch out. She said the real coffee lovers are the ones who will try a dark roast diner coffee or a random flavored latte without judging it. It got me thinking about how I've been kind of stuck in my own safe zone with the same beans from the same roaster for like 6 months. Has anyone else had a moment where someone called them out on being too narrow with their coffee choices?

Oof yeah that hits home I've been totally guilty of the same thing with my coffee routine.

Yeah the "coffee routine" thing is so real. I think it just shows how we all get stuck in these little habits without even thinking about them. Like I've been doing the same thing with my morning walk for months - same route, same time, same coffee shop stop. It took my friend pointing it out for me to realize I was just going through the motions. Once you break that cycle, even just a little, it's amazing how much fresh perspective you get. It's like our brains just autopilot everything and we miss the simple stuff.
