Just learned Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans are naturally processed with fruit pulp
I was reading a coffee blog last night and found out that Yirgacheffe beans get their blueberry notes from being dried with the cherry fruit still on them. The article said this method takes about 18 days and gives the beans a super fruity flavor that no other processing method can match. Has anyone else tried these beans and tasted that distinct berry kick?

Man I'd probably end up eating the dried fruit pulp before the beans even got to the coffee maker... typical me, can't resist a snack!

90% of people buying those beans probably expect an actual blueberry flavor injection, not realizing it's just the processing method doing the work. The fruit pulp thing sounds pretty gross when you think about it, like eating a coffee bean that's been marinating in a rotten fruit bowl for two and a half weeks. I tried some last year and it honestly just tasted like a regular bean that got a little too friendly with a jam jar. If you want blueberry notes, just buy a bag of blueberry flavored coffee from the grocery store and skip the 18 day science experiment.
