Found out my grandpa's old percolator is worth more than my whole setup
I was cleaning out my grandpa's attic last weekend and found this old stovetop percolator from the 1950s... it's one of those chrome ones with the glass knob on top. My dad was gonna throw it away but I looked it up online, turns out collectors pay around $200 for one in decent shape. I always thought it was just junk but now I'm keeping it for sure. Anybody else find something old that turned out to be valuable?

Oh man, that percolator story hit me right in the nostalgia. "Found out my grandpa's old percolator is worth more than my whole setup" - I had basically the same thing happen with my uncle's old tackle box. It was just sitting in his garage full of rusty hooks and old fishing line, looked like total junk. My cousin was gonna toss it in the dumpster but I looked it up and it was a 1960s Plano box from the first year they made them, sold it for $175 on eBay. I think a lot of that old stuff people call junk is actually worth something because nobody bothered to check. You did the right thing keeping it, that percolator has way more history than any new coffee maker you could buy.

Whoa, hold up @alexj99, don't go thinking all old tackle boxes are gold mines. That Plano box you found was from a specific year and condition, which is rare. Most old tackle boxes from the 60s are just beat up plastic and rusted metal, not worth more than $20 at a garage sale. I've seen a dozen busted up percolators get thrown out because they were too crusty to use. But yeah, you got lucky with that one, so good for you. Just don't want people running out thinking grandpa's junk is automatically worth cash.
