Can we talk about buying cheap coffee beans online?

I ordered a 5 pound bag of beans from a roaster I found on Instagram last month. They were $28 shipped which seemed decent. First batch I brewed tasted like burnt tires and old gym socks. I tried adjusting my grind size and water temp three times but nothing helped. Ended up tossing the whole bag in the compost bin. Has anyone else gotten burned by a random online roaster?

Did you try brewing it with the Instagram filter still on? I've definitely made that mistake before, thinking a fancy post would fix my burnt tire coffee.
