Bought a cheap grinder and it ruined my morning coffee for a month

I picked up a $25 blade grinder from a big box store because my old one broke. The grind was all over the place, from dust to big chunks, no matter how I shook it. My pour-over tasted sour and weak every single day. I finally gave up and got a burr grinder for about $80, and the difference was night and day. Has anyone else had a bad grinder mess up their routine?

Ever think a bad grinder might be hiding the true taste of your beans? You could be blaming the roast when it's just cheap gear.

Cheap gear" is a strong way to put it. My ten dollar grinder makes coffee that tastes fine to me. Maybe some people just like to worry about their tools more than actually drinking the stuff.

Susan_brown80, that's a scary thought. I've been using the same old grinder for years and never questioned it. Maybe my favorite beans have been letting me down.
