That guy who said beginners should skip Python and go straight to C++
I overheard someone at a meetup telling a newbie that Python is a waste of time and they should learn C++ first for "real programming." That advice ignores how most people learn best which is through quick wins and building things fast. How many beginners actually stick with coding after months of fighting memory management and segmentation faults before they can even make a simple app?

Buddy of mine spent six months on C++ tutorials before he made anything he could show someone. Gave up on coding entirely after that.

Six months of tutorials and nothing to show" - that says it all really. Python lets you build stuff on day one. That keeps people around.
