My uncle in Fresno told me to quit tutorials for 30 days and just build junk, and I hate that he was right
He visited over Memorial Day weekend and saw my browser had 14 tabs of Python courses open, and he asked how many programs I had actually finished. Zero. He said pick one small dumb thing, like a tip splitter, and just fight through the errors for 30 days with no videos. I built a grocery list app that breaks every time I type a comma, but I fixed three bugs myself last week by reading the actual error message. It felt slow and ugly the whole time, but I learned more than the last 60 hours of watching. Has anyone else ditched tutorials cold turkey, or did you need some mix of both to stay motivated?
