Hit 100 little Python scripts on a rainy Sunday and sat there staring at the folder
Two years back I could not get past chapter 3 of any coding tutorial. I would watch a video, nod along, and then freeze when the screen was blank and nobody was telling me what to type. So I stopped doing courses and just wrote tiny throwaway scripts, one a day, dumb stuff like renaming photos or rolling dice. Last Sunday the folder hit 100 files and I had to scroll twice in my own file manager, which sounds silly but it got me. The first 20 were rough copies of stuff I found online, but somewhere around number 60 I was fixing my own bugs without searching. For anyone still stuck at chapter 3, what was the thing that finally got you writing code instead of just reading about it?
What finally worked for you when a script broke and nobody was there to fix it? For me it was getting mad enough at my own bug that I just sat there poking at it until it worked, and that stubbornness stuck way better than any tutorial.
