10,000 parts is a real number and it bugs me how fast people brush off stuff they didn't see with their own eyes. My cousin worked nights at a plant in Ohio and tracked her output in a little notebook for two years. When she finally showed the numbers, the supervisor said the book "looked new" so it didn't count. Same thing happens with nurses and tips and teachers and test scores. If a person wasn't standing there watching, somehow it didn't happen. Then the day shift gets credit for what the night shift already did.
