TIL I was running my machine with the wrong coolant pressure for 2 years

I've been running a Fadal 4020 for a while now and could never figure out why my tool life was so inconsistent. Last week my coworker Dave walks by, looks at the coolant stream, and goes 'dude your pressure is way low.' I had no idea there was even a regulator on that thing lmao. He showed me the little dial I'd been ignoring and now my end mills last like twice as long. Has anyone else missed something that basic for way too long?

Oh man that's hilarious, I had a buddy who ran a Haas for like three years never realizing there was a coolant filter that needed changing. His shop smelled like burnt toast every Friday afternoon and he just thought it was normal haha. Dave really saved you some serious headache there.

Find yourself nodding along because I think we all have those blind spots we walk right past for years. It's like me finally noticing the filter light on my furnace after three winters of wondering why the air felt weak. Sometimes the simplest fixes are hiding in plain sight, just waiting for someone with fresh eyes to point them out.
