Stumbled on a stat that 70% of CNC crashes happen during program setup or tool change
Was reading through a safety report from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health last night and that one jumped out at me. I always figured most crashes happened during actual cutting runs when the feed or speed is off. But apparently the risk is way higher when you're just getting the machine ready or swapping tools out. Made me think twice about how I rush through tool offsets sometimes. Guess it backs up what the old timers say about slowing down during setup. Has anyone else noticed more close calls during those moments rather than mid-cycle?

Hold on @benbrown, you NEARLY wrecked stuff just zeroing tools? Thats crazy! Rushing always seems to backfire at the worst possible time. Your story is making me double check my own setup now.
