Showerthought: My $30 Chinese endmill snapped on the third pass last Tuesday

Running a simple contour in 6061 at like 40% stepover and it just sheared off clean, no warning. Anybody else had a cheap tool fail way earlier than you expected, or was that just my luck?

Bought a set of those cheap Chinese endmills a while back myself. Had one snap on the first pass into some mild steel, pretty much the same deal just clean sheared off. Made me think maybe they're not heat treated right or something.

Yeah those endmills are hit or miss... I switched to buying just one decent brand and it stopped snapping on me.
