Shoutout to the guy who told me to check my collet nut tightness

I was fighting .005 runout on a drill bushing job for like two weeks straight, swapping tools and holders like crazy. Finally an old timer walks by and goes 'when's the last time you torqued that collet nut?' Tightened it up and my runout dropped to .001 right away. Anybody else ever overlook something that simple and waste a bunch of time?

Man, that's the kind of stuff that'll humble you quick in this trade. Did you actually feel the nut was tight before you torqued it, or was it just one of those things where you assumed it was good enough?

Nah, sometimes it's that gunk hiding in the threads giving you a false reading.
