PSA: Running parts you know are out of spec because the boss said so is wrong.
I had a batch where the tolerances were off, but management pushed to ship them anyway. That's how you get callbacks and hurt your shop's name. I've seen this trash parts come back with complaints, and guess who fixes it? Us. It puts our pay on the line if the job fails. Speaking up might risk your spot, but staying quiet risks everyone's job. Do the right thing and flag it, even if it's tough.

Yeah, the part about it putting our pay on the line really hits home. I used to just shrug and run bad parts to avoid the argument. Now I see how that short-term fix just makes a bigger mess for us later on. It’s not worth the hassle it brings back.

Last year I had a batch of brackets that were off by maybe an eighth of an inch. I used to just force them in and move on. But then I saw how it messed up the whole assembly line for the next crew. Now I stop the job right there and get the supervisor. It takes five extra minutes but saves a whole day of rework later.
