Old timer at a shop in Ohio showed me a trick for deburring thin aluminum parts
He just said "run your file backwards, not forwards" and it saved me like 20 minutes on a batch of 50 parts, anyone else ever get a tip that simple that actually works?

Huh, you sure that works without gouging the part?

Funny enough, that backwards trick works way better if you put a slight angle on the file too. Most people try to keep it flat and that's actually what causes the gouging. The file's teeth aren't meant to bite as hard when you pull, so you get a smoother finish with way less risk of digging in. Also helps if you've got a worn out file that's about to get tossed, those are actually perfect for this since the teeth are already dulled down.
