Hot take: spending $400 on a good edge finder was a waste

I bought a Haimer 3D Taster last month after everyone online swore by them. Figured I'd finally stop messing with those cheap wigglers that always drift on me. Cost me like $400 total with the holder. First week was great honestly, zero complaints. But then I dropped it on the shop floor and now the tip is slightly off. I can't even get it recalibrated without sending it back to the factory. My old $20 wiggler I can smack against the vice and it still works fine. Anyone else drop big money on a tool that let you down when you actually needed it?

Those Haimers are tough but not indestructible like people claim.

Oh man I feel your pain. I did the exact same thing with a fancy digital height gage, dropped it once and now it reads half a millimeter off no matter what I do.
