Heard a sales guy say spindle load is overrated, had to bite my tongue

Was at a tooling expo last Thursday and this rep tells a kid that spindle load readings are just a suggestion and you can push the machine till it alarms. I about choked on my coffee. That kind of thinking is how I got a 20k repair bill on a 2019 Haas after a guy ran a 3/4 end mill at 12,000 rpm with a dull insert. I've been watching load meters for 12 years now and they've saved my ass way more than they've lied to me. Anyone else ever have to correct a new guy because someone sold them on ignoring the numbers?

Just a suggestion" my ass. That's exactly what the previous owner of my little VF-2 thought before he turned it into a drill press with extra steps. Tbh, I've seen load meters save me from my own dumb ideas more than any sales rep ever has. One time I trusted the number and backed off just in time, only found out later the spindle bearing was already on its way out. Ngl, I've also ignored a blinking red load warning and paid for it with a blown fuse and a two hour cleanup. That rep probably never had to explain to a boss why his own machine sounds like a coffee grinder now.
