Found out our spindle hours were lying by almost 400 hours

We got a used HAAS VF-2 about 8 months ago and I finally got around to checking the spindle load meter against the actual run time log. Turns out the previous owner had reset the hours counter twice and the real number was way higher than what the listing said. I only caught it because I pulled the maintenance history from a local service place in Toledo who had worked on it before. The guy was real upfront about it once I called, said they logged every repair in their system. Makes me wonder how many used machines out there have fudged numbers like that. Anyone else ever dig into a machine's history and find something the seller didn't mention?

Jeez, calm down there. So the hour meter was reset, big deal. You bought a used machine, stuff like that happens all the time. At the end of the day, if it cuts good and holds tolerance, what does 400 extra hours really change? Parts are parts, they wear out when they wear out. You pulled the service logs, so you know exactly what was fixed and when. That's way more useful than some mystery meter reading anyway. Sounds like you came out ahead with the info, not behind. Time to just run it and see what breaks, not stress over a number on a screen.
