Blew a $400 spindle bearing on a holiday shift

Christmas Eve 2019 at the shop in Akron. Running a Haas VF-2SS and the coolant line snagged on a fixture. Didn't catch it for 20 minutes. The spindle temp climbed to 185F before I stopped it. Had to hand-scrape the taper with a stone and replace the bearings myself over the holiday break. Anyone else ever damage a spindle from a simple coolant line issue?

Man that's brutal, a coolant line taking out a spindle on a holiday no less.

Got a similar call a few years ago on Christmas Eve. Coolant hose rubbed through on a worn bracket, sprayed all over the spindle drive. By the time the night guy noticed the puddle, it had already shorted out the encoder. Took us three weeks to get the replacement part because of the holidays. Ended up running the whole job on manual feed just to get the customer their parts by New Years. Spent my Christmas morning at the shop with a mop and bucket cleaning up coolant instead of opening presents.
