Been running production parts for 12 years and finally tried climb milling on my Bridgeport... wow

I always stuck with conventional milling cause that's how my old shop teacher Mr. Hansen taught us back in 2004. Thought climb milling was just asking for chatter or a broken endmill. Then last Tuesday I was cutting some 6061 aluminum on my Series 1 and decided to flip it around just to see what would happen. Used a 1/2 inch 4 flute HSS endmill at 2500 RPM and 6 IPM feed. The finish was night and day different, almost like glass compared to the usual rough lines I'd get. No chatter at all on that 12 inch long pass. My buddy Tony at the shop down the street told me I was crazy for not doing it sooner, but I guess I had to see it myself. Has anyone else had that moment where you just assumed something wouldn't work for years and then it totally changed your setup?

Same thing happened to me, total game changer for surface finishes!

Mr. Hansen also told me to never back the endmill out of a cut while spinning and I found out why on my second part.
