Am I the only one who keeps seeing people crash their tools because of bad work offsets?
Honestly, last night at my shop in Akron, this guy next to me ran his endmill right into the vise because he forgot to zero out his G54 after a setup change. I see this all the time from newer operators, they rush through the offset page and skip the double check. It matters because that's a $150 tool and an hour of scrap parts if you're not careful. How do you guys handle checking work offsets before hitting the green button?

Man, "forgot to zero out his G54" hits way too close to home. I saw a guy at my last shop scrap a whole pallet of parts because he had the wrong offset loaded from the previous job. He just hit cycle start without looking at the numbers first. I always do a quick dry run with the feed rate turned way down, and I double check the work offset page before I even touch the green button. It only takes an extra 30 seconds but it saves you from that sick feeling when you hear the crash.

Nothing makes your stomach drop faster than hearing that first bad cut.
