Why I stopped chasing dramatic sunset colors and started looking at simple white puffy clouds

Spent like two years only posting the crazy red/orange sunset shots in here but yesterday I saw this perfectly normal cumulus cloud that had this amazing soft shadow underneath it and it looked way cooler than any of my sunset pics. Anyone else find themselves appreciating the boring looking clouds more after a while?

...and he comes back with this photo of a single cloud over an empty field, just a plain white thing with a gray bottom. I was like "dude, you drove two hours for that?" And he just shrugged and said the light on it was perfect. I didn't get it then, but now after scrolling through a hundred sunset shots that all look the same, I think he was onto something. There's something honest about a cloud that's not trying to be anything special, you know?

Guess you finally realized sunsets are just Instagram's way of selling you a filter.
