Warning: don't buy those cheap cloud identification apps
Wasted $12 on three different cloud ID apps last month and they all kept calling cumulonimbus clouds "altostratus" even on clear days. Has anyone found a free one that actually works for identifying weird formations like lenticular or mammatus clouds?

Might just be me but those apps probably don't have the training data for rare clouds like lenticular. Could try using the CloudSpotter app by the Cloud Appreciation Society, it's free and built by cloud nerds so it might catch the weird stuff better.

Heard a meteorologist say those apps just use basic pattern matching so they miss the weird stuff.
