TIL the old guy at Lake Hefner taught me cloud names by yelling at the sky like a sports announcer
Last Saturday I was at the Lake Hefner dam here in Oklahoma City shooting pics of this huge anvil cloud when a retired weather guy named Harold walked up beside me. He starts pointing and calling shapes out loud like he is doing play by play, "mammatus, mammatus, look at the pouches!" I had no clue what I was even looking at until he named it. Then he looks at my phone screen, squints, and says "you got the cloud but you missed the light, come back at 7." I came back at 7 and he was right. Does anyone else have a cloud buddy who narrates the whole sky?
