My neighbor said the clouds would bottom out before 5pm and I laughed at him
I was out on my porch in Tulsa taking pics of this flat gray layer that just sat there all afternoon looking boring. My neighbor Dale, who used to fly small planes, said watch, it'll drop and spread out right before dinner. I figured he was just talking, but around 4:40 the whole thing sank and stretched into this smooth pancake deck that caught the orange light and turned pink on the underside. I got maybe 30 shots of it and he stood there grinning with his coffee. So what are the real signs a stratus layer is about to lower and flatten out, or did Dale just get lucky?
