My grandpa in Tulsa told me in 1999 to stop staring at the sky and just watch it, and he was right
I spent so many nights trying to name every cloud I saw that I stopped really seeing them, until he made me just sit on his porch and watch a thunderstorm build for 40 minutes without saying a word, and now that slow looking is the only way I get good pics, so does anyone else find that trying too hard ruins the shot?
Me spending 20 minutes crouched in a bush muttering cloud names to myself while the actual sunset happens behind me is a real thing that has happened. Your grandpa sounds like he knew what was up. The best shots I've ever gotten were the ones where I just stood there like a goofball and let it happen.
