I used to just take pictures of clouds from my back porch in Tucson.

Then my daughter asked me last week why the clouds over the mountains looked 'wrinkled' and I had to look up what mammatus clouds were. Now I carry a small notebook to write down what I see and try to figure it out later. Does anyone else keep a little cloud journal, or am I just getting old?

Honestly that's a great way to fight off getting old. Tbh my cloud notes are just on my phone next to my grocery list, so it's a real mixed bag. Ngl, half my photos are just blurry pictures of the sky now.

I mean are we really studying clouds or just taking bad pictures? Sounds like you're just making a hobby out of a camera roll full of mistakes. My phone's got the same blurry sky shots and I just delete them.

My phone's camera roll is basically a cloud graveyard at this point. I've got 47 blurry pictures that I swear showed a perfect cumulonimbus, but they all look like someone smeared gray paint on the lens. The notebook is a solid idea, because my phone notes just say things like "fluffy ones, 3pm" next to "buy more ketchup." You're not getting old, you're just finally giving those weird sky lumps the proper study they deserve.
