That chat with my neighbor about his solar setup got me thinking

I was out front last Tuesday and my neighbor Ron in Denver mentioned his power bill dropped from $180 to about $40 a month since he added panels and a small battery in 2023. He said the real win wasn't the savings, it was how the battery kept his fridge running during that 4 day hail storm blackout last spring. It hit different because I always figured solar was just about money, not resilience. Anyone else look at backup power differently after a real outage?
