Pro tip: Found a free heat pump loaner program through my utility company after my old furnace died

My HVAC guy quoted me $8k for a new unit, but I discovered my local electric co-op has a program where they loan you a heat pump for free during peak months if you agree to let them cycle it off during high demand. Has anyone else used their utility's load management programs for heating and cooling?

Wow, that's awesome! I did almost the exact same thing last winter with my gas company's peak savings plan. They gave me a free smart thermostat and a small monthly credit for letting them adjust my temp by a few degrees during cold snaps. Honestly, I barely noticed the difference, and my December bill was like $40 less than normal. My neighbor laughed at me for signing up, but now her old system is blowing out and she's kicking herself. Have you already used the loaner or are you still waiting to pick it up?
