Overheard a neighbor talking about solar co-ops and it clicked

My neighbor was telling me she joined a solar co-op in our town last spring and got panels installed for 20% less than normal. I always thought solar was way too expensive for a regular house, but she paid around $12k after the tax credit. Has anyone else gone through a co-op program and is it worth the upfront cost?
