My neighbor's solar panel tip cut our June bill by 40%

Last spring our neighbor Dave in Austin kept pushing us to clean the panels with a hose at dawn, not midday when they're hot. We shrugged it off until our June bill hit $220, then tried his trick for two weeks. Our usage dropped from 1,100 kWh to 640 kWh, which honestly surprised me more than he said it would. Has anyone else found simple maintenance like this making that big a dent, or did we just have filthy panels before?
