My neighbor Linda called me out for washing my car in the driveway

Last Sunday I was out there with a hose and a bucket, scrubbing off all the road salt from winter. Linda from across the street came over and said I was basically dumping soap and oil right into the storm drain. I honestly never thought about where that water goes. Turns out our whole neighborhood drains into a creek that feeds the river a mile away. She showed me her system where she parks on the grass or uses a waterless spray from AutoZone for like $8. I switched to going to the DIY carwash bay where they capture the runoff, it costs me about $4 per wash but I know it's not ending up in the fish habitat. Has anyone else had a neighbor show them something basic like that?

I've noticed most of us just never question where things go after they leave our hands.

Nah, someone else handles all that.
