My electric bill dropped 40 percent after one small change to my shop
I swapped the 12 old T12 fluorescent tubes in my shop for LEDs in October, mostly because the flickering was driving me nuts. When the next bill came in at $118 instead of the usual $200, I actually called the power company to make sure it was right. Has anyone else gotten a surprise like that from one upgrade?
Wait, $200 a month just for lights in a shop? That part is blowing my mind way more than the savings. I would have guessed maybe $40 or $50 for some tubes, not a hundred bucks. Twelve tubes running all day must really add up if they were eating that much of your bill. Did you ever figure out the math on how many hours you had them on?
