My $4 laundry line cut my dryer use to once a week, here's how I set it up
I hung a basic retractable line across my back porch in Sacramento about 3 months ago, mostly to save on power bills. The trick was putting it up at chest height instead of overhead, so I can reach the whole line without a stool. I do one load every morning before work and it's dry by the time I get home, even now in October. My dryer runs maybe once a week now for towels and socks, down from 5 or 6 loads. The thing cost me $4 at a yard sale and a pack of hooks. Anyone else run into HOA rules about visible lines? Mine hasn't said anything yet but I'm waiting.
