Just hit my first month of a zero food waste kitchen
Used to toss maybe half a bag of lettuce every week. Started a compost bin in the garage last month. Now I freeze veg scraps for stock and plan meals around what's going bad. It feels good to see the trash can so empty. Anyone else have simple tricks that cut down on waste?

My friend Sarah got super into this. She started keeping a whiteboard on her fridge to write down what needs using up first. Ngl, it was a mess of leftovers before that. She told me last week she turned some wrinkly peppers and a sad zucchini into a big pot of soup instead of tossing them. Honestly, it sounds so simple but it changed her whole grocery routine.

That compost bin in the garage is a solid move.

Totally agree with @christophermorgan, garage composting is a game changer. Mine keeps the kitchen from smelling like old food and the critters out of the main pile. Had a whole bin of coffee grounds and eggshells going all winter without any mess. Makes it so easy to just dump the kitchen bucket on the way to the car.
