Gave up gas furnaces after 20 years, now I eat my words

Back in 2003 I installed a high efficiency gas furnace in my place in Cleveland and swore nothing beat it. My buddy kept pushing ductless mini splits and I laughed at him, thought they were for fancy offices only. Last winter my compressor died and he loaned me one of his portable units for a week while I waited on parts. That thing ran quieter, used half the power, and kept my living room at 68 even when it hit 10 degrees outside. Anyone else switch over and find the old tech was actually the outdated one?
