Why does nobody talk about how bad sump pumps fail in the spring?
I changed my mind about trusting my old Zoeller pump after it died during that heavy rain two weeks ago in Westlake. The basement took on about 4 inches of water before I got a replacement from Lowe's and swapped it out at midnight. Anyone else had a sudden pump failure right when the weather turned?

yea that sudden weather shift is brutal. i had a similar thing happen with a 5 year old Liberty pump that just gave up during a flash thaw last march. did you notice any weird sounds or just straight up silence when it failed? mine started making this grinding noise for like 30 seconds before it quit completely, figured it was the impeller.

did you notice if there was any standing water in the pit before it died? i read somewhere that Liberty pumps can be real sensitive to debris and sludge buildup after a freeze, and that grinding noise might've been pieces of ice or grit getting stuck in the impeller. @the_kim mightve saved you a headache if you caught it early.
