Unpopular opinion: the new 'lakefront' development in Avon Lake is ruining the actual public access we used to have along the water
I walked down there last weekend and saw three new 'private beach' signs posted where I've been fishing for 15 years, so how is throwing up million dollar condos supposed to make the lake more accessible for the rest of us?

Those beach signs are probably because the old public access was NEVER properly maintained by the city and people were leaving trash and beer cans everywhere. I walked that stretch last month and counted four separate illegal fire pits still smoldering near the waterline. The new development actually built a proper public pier with benches and a trash can that gets emptied weekly, plus they paved the path from the parking lot so old people can actually get down there. Three private beach signs is a SMALL price to pay for having a clean, safe shoreline that the whole community can use without worrying about broken glass. Maybe the fishing crowd should have spoken up when the city council was taking public comments instead of just complaining now.

@rileygonzalez so where do regular folks fish now without getting kicked out?
